Madrid #2

Looks like I need to do these posts individually...

Here’s the Plaza Mayor. This was the main square of Madrid in medieval times. The site of royal events, bull fights and the Spanish Inquisition! Heretics were burned or strangled in this plaza, which held up to 50,000 spectators.

Now it’s nice cafes and expensive apartments.








This is a bullfighting bar on the Plaza... like a Bills bar in Buffalo. Photos of all the famous matadors and bulls.

  2. The Plaza reminds me a bit of plazas in Italy. That’s really interesting that everything from bull fights to the Inquisition happened there. It must be large to hold 50,000 people. Interesting “sports” bar too...
