Train to Sarria
Friday was a 6 hour train ride from Madrid to Sarria. What a great experience... the train was high speed, generally about 60 mph. And very comfortable- nicer than an airplane.

The area around Madrid was dry. It looked like Texas. We climbed into the mountains of Galicia, which looks more like Colorado. Pine trees and deep valleys.

Arrived in Sarria around 7:30 pm. Lots of pilgrims on the train.

Here’s the train, and me arriving in Sarria.

See the woman with the Mickey Mouse and Paw Patrol bags? It’s amazing how the US culture is everywhere. Spanish kids on the train were playing with Disney toys, Captain America and Superman. The woman next to me was reading an article about Burt Reynolds, and the video system was playing a feature about Sylvester Stallone’s movies. I was the only non Spaniard in the car,  but other than the language, I could have been home.
